The State Bar of California requires that all active members complete 25 hours
of continuing legal education every three years.
The requirements are as follows:
- Maximum "self-study" hours: 12.5 hours
- Members must fulfill at least one-half of their MCLE requirement with activities
approved for "participatory" MCLE credit.
- Special Requirements within the total hours required
(may be taken as participatory or self-study):
- Legal Ethics: 4 hours (required)
- Detection/Prevention of Substance Abuse or Mental Illness: 1 hour (required)
- Elimination of Bias in the Legal Profession: 1 hour (required)
Substance Abuse CLE is an approved provider of the State Bar of California.
You may complete 1 hour of self-study credit online so you can satisfy the requirements
for the Detection/Prevention of Substance Abuse.
Directions:
1. From the main menu above, select an available lesson.
2. The lesson will direct you to an article for you to read online.
3. If you decide that you would like the hour of credit, simply take the online test offered
at the lesson's link, and then click the payment button.
4. The cost of our lessons are $20, and you may pay through Paypal.
5. Your Certificate of Completion will be emailed to you within 24 hours,
even Saturday or Sunday.
6. If you prefer not to use Paypal, you may mail a check or money order, payable to
Substance Abuse CLE, to:

7. If you pay by check, your Certificate of Completion will be sent by mail. If you
do not provide us with an email, your Certificate will be sent by U.S. mail.
